About Aala Hubail
Ala'a Hubail (علاء حبيل) (born 25 June 1982) is a Bahraini footballer who plays as a striker for Bahrain and Al-Ahli. In 2004, he was the top scoring player (five goals, tied with Ali Karimi) in the Asian Cup. He was the 8th best player in 2004.
Through his professional career at Al Gharafah, Hubail was in direct competition for the scorer of the Qatari League in the 2005-2006 season. In almost mid league Hubail was actually ahead of all scorers with several goals. However, a devastating ACL injury benched him for the rest of the season and the beginning of the season to come. Despite his absence in the second half of the league, Hubail finished 4th scorer of that season as he had two surgeries to fix his knee.
Following the surgery, Hubail returned to fit form and has shown a very supportive role in both the Bahraini National Team and Al Gharafa.
At 22 years old, A`ala Hubail emerged as one of Asia's finest attacking talents at the Asian Cup 2004. The joint leading scorer with five goals, Hubail came to the fore with a brace against Uzbekistan in the quarter-finals and another double against Japan in the last four. A hard-working player, Hubail has also done the job at the back, winning the ball in defense and clearing one effort off the line in extra-time against Uzbekistan.
On June 5, 2007 Ala'a Hubail officially completed a transfer to Kuwaiti league champions Kuwait SC. He signed a contract that was a relatively high sum for an Arab player for the period of one year. Hubail was joined by former Riffa defender Abdulla Al Marzooqi. Hubail was given the number 30 shirt, while Marzooqi received the number 33. Hubail and Marzooqi join two other Bahrainis already playing at Kuwait SC who are national team captain Talal Yousef and Hussain Ali Baba.
In May 2008, Alaa Hubail completed a transfer to Qatar, specifically to Umm-Salal, offering the Bahraini player a lot of money and better facilities.
In June 2009, returned to Al-Ahli in Bahraini Premier League. He scored once for the Bahraini King's Cup 2009 quarter-finals match against Busaiteen Club on 29 June 2009.
