About Cengiz Kurtoğlu Cengiz Kurtoğlu (born 1959) is a Turkish new wave/synthpop artist. He was born in 1959 in Artvin, Turkey. He worked as a civil servant at a tea factory in Artvin and migrated to Istanbul in 1982 . In 1985 his first album "Sen Sözden Anlamaz Mısın?" (Don't You Get The Words?) was released and he became very popular. His later albums were not only commercial miracles but helped him building an extremely dedicated fan group called as Cengizciler (Fans of Cengiz). Fans affectionately call him as "Cengiz Baba" which means "Father Cengiz" in Turkish. Also he is called as "Living Legend" by his fans. Today he is one of the symbol names of 80s for Turkey and he still releases albums full of dark love songs. At the same time he is also a successful businessman, he is the chairman of his own record label "SIMA" (Formerly SINDOMA). Nowadays he is working on his new album that will be released in 2009.
