He is one of the most prolific strikers of the modern era, scoring 383 goals in his career.At the 2002 FIFA World Cup, Hakan scored the fastest goal in the World Cup history by netting against South Korea in approximately 10.8 seconds. In November 2003, to celebrate UEFA's Jubilee, he was selected as the Golden Player of Turkey by the Turkish Football Federation as their most outstanding player of the past 50 years.
