About Iveta Radicova
Iveta Radičová (born December 7, 1956 in Bratislava, Slovakia) is a Slovak politician who served as Minister of Labour of Slovakia from 2005 to 2006. She is a member of the Slovak Democratic and Christian Union – Democratic Party, a party currently in opposition. She studied Sociology at the Comenius University in Bratislava.Radičová ran for presidency in the 2009 presidential election and was ultimately defeated by incumbent Ivan Gašparovič. She received 38.70% of votes (about 750,000 votes) in the first round and then 44.47% (988,808 votes) in the second round. She had managed to gain support of all major opposition parties in Slovakia, and is the only woman in Slovakian history so far to reach the second round of a presidential election.
On April 21, 2009 during the session of National Council she committed a fraud when she voted for her colleague Tatiana Rosová who could not make it in time reserved for voting. As a result of this she gave up her mandate on April 23, 2009.
