About Joseph Vijay Joseph Vijay Chandrasekhar (born on June 22, 1974), better known mononymously as Vijay (Tamil: விஜய்), is a Tamil film actor and playback singer in Tamil cinema. He is known as a fan favourite to many of the movie fans in Tamil Film Industry and is considered as one of the leading actors in the industry. He is the son of film producer and director S. A. Chandrasekhar. He made his film debut in Naalaya Theerpu (1992). Since then, he acted in several films of action and romance genres. During his years in the Chennai film industry, he has been nominated for one Filmfare Award, while winning two Tamil Nadu State Film Awards. Vijay has starred in several romance and action films, along with the blockbuster films Poove Unakkaga (1996), Love Today (1997), Kadhalukku Mariyadhai (1997), Thulladha Manamum Thullum (1999), Kushi (2000), Ghilli (2004), Thirupachi (2005), Sivakasi (2005), Pokkiri (2007) and Vettaikaran (2009). He is the current ambassador for the Indian Premier League cricket team Chennai Super Kings and has also served several commercial companies as a brand ambassador.
