About Marouane Chamakh Marouane Chamakh (Arabic: مروان الشماخ‎, born on 10 January 1984) is a French-born Moroccan football player who plays for Bordeaux as a striker. Although born and raised in France, he is a full international player for Morocco due to his Moroccan parentage.International career Chamakh made his international debut in 2003 and was part of the side that reached the 2004 African Cup of Nations Final, Chamakh’s popularity in Morocco soared when he netted a last-gasp equalizer against North African rivals Algeria in the quarter-final tie which Morocco went on to win 3-1. Club career Since 2002 Chamakh has played for Bordeaux, winning the French League in season 2008-09. He scored 14 goals in that season helping end the 7 year run of Lyon dominating the league. Throughout August 2009, Chamakh has been linked with several clubs in the English Premiership, including Arsenal, Sunderland and West Ham United. However, media reports suggest that Bordeaux has knocked back all approaches.
