About Michel Temer Michel Elias Temer Lulia (Tietê, September 23, 1940) is a Brazilian lawyer and politician. He is on a sixth term as elected Deputy of the state of São Paulo, and presides over the Brazilian Chamber of Deputies for the 2009-2010 biennium. He had been elected President of the Chamber for a two-year term in 1997, and reelected in 1999. Temer was a member of the 1988 Constitutional Congress, which promulgated the current Constitution of Brazil. He is the president of the Brazilian Democratic Movement Party.Temer holds a doctorate in Law from the University of São Paulo. He served as State procusecutor and twice as State Secretary for Public Security, in both capacities working in São Paulo. He is a licensed teacher of Constitutional Law at PUC-SP, and has authored numerous books on the subject.
