Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (born May 20, 1983) more popularly known as NTR Jr and youngNTR., is an actor. He is a grandson of the late Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao, who was a fine actor, founder of the Telugu Desam Party, He is the son of Harikrishna and Shalini. Called Tarak by his family, friends and close associates; he later changed his name to Taraka Rama Rao in honor of his grandfather. He has two half-brothers, Mr. N. Janaki Ram and Mr. N. Kalyan Ram (both older) and one half-sister, Mrs. Suhasini.

NTR began his career as a kid artist. His first step into Tollywood was with his grandfather's movie Brahmarshi Viswamithra and then Bala Ramayanam, directed by Gunasekhar. Coincidentally, his character in the second movie was Lord Sri Rama, a role often played by his grandfather NTR. After a few years, Jr. NTR made his re-entry into Tollywood with Ninnu Choodalani in 2001; but it failed to perform well at the box office. He went on to gain fame with Student No. 1 (also released in 2001), directed by S.S. Rajamouli which turned out to be a blockbuster, followed by Subbu and Aadi,another blockbuster that gained him the mass image like his uncle Balakrishna and won him prestigious Nandi award. In January 2003, Tarak came up with Naaga; though the movie raised some worthy political issues, it did not do well at the box-office. However, in July 2003, his movie Simhadri made Tarak and director Rajamouli as household names by registering another blockbuster. His 2004 release Andhrawala,did not do well at the box office, and the next movie Samba was a hit. His next movie Rakhi, directed by Krishna Vamsi, was a critically acclaimed movie which managed to do well at the box office and turned out to be a Hit. The next one was Yamadonga,which was a HatTrick blockbuster scored by Tarak and Rajamouli and won him a filmfare award for his performance. Following Yamadonga, Jr. NTR's next film was Kantri, which was released on May 2008 turned out to be an average grosser at the box office. His forthcoming projects are Adurs which will release in over 900 screens worldwide and Brindavanam which will be made at a budget of Over 30 crores. His mass appeal and ability to attract the class audience has made him a Superstar. He is the next big star of tollywood an amaging dancer, a better perfomer.
