About Ramarajan Ramarajan is a Tamil film actor who is specialised in acting films on village-based subjects. He is also known as Makkal Nayagan.As an actor Ramarajan was a very popular hero in the late 80's. He is known for his colourful costumes. He is the first hero to come in half trousers and become successful. He is from a small town Melur near Madurai, he grew up from a Cinema entrance ticket validater cum Plantain mandi to Cine producer. He always played the role of a simple village man in his movies and was ridiculed by the then Tamil media. His cine team, having Music Maestro Ilayaraaja, Goundamani, Senthil etc. produced a number of super hits. Karakaatakaaran ran for more than a year in a Madurai cinema theatre.He was even called as rural superstar. At the peak of his career, he decided to produce films, but was unsuccessful. Then he became an MP (AIADMK) of Lok Sabha in 1998. He was elected from Tiruchendur (a traditional stronghold for ex-minister Danushkoodi Adithan). Ramarajan defeated him and entered into the Lok Sabha. However he could not sustain victory in the political arena. He soon lost all his deposits. He is now acting in a low budget mediocre movie
