She is best known for her songs in Bollywood, but she has also performed several songs in regional films. Besides Hindi, she has sung songs in Assamese, Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Punjabi, Tamil and Telugu. Ghoshal career began when she won the Sa Re Ga Ma Pa contest twice - once as a child, and once as an adult. Her Bollywood career began with Devdas, for which she received both the Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback Singer and the Filmfare RD Burman Award for New Music Talent. Since then, she has worked in over 140 films. Her voice has been used by many prominent Indian musicians, and several of her songs have received critical and commercial success. Ghoshal is one of the most awarded playback singers in recent times, with 4 National Film Awards and 5 Filmfare Awards to her credit.
